Course Description

Program Description This joint Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) diploma-to-degree program will enable you to earn your diploma and degree in only four years. Experience the best of both learning environments while on the journey to a rewarding career in business. Supply chain and operations managers are at the core of any company. They keep businesses running smoothly and ensure that clients, suppliers and employees are effective and successful in their work. They obtain, develop and manage the resources required to deliver goods and services to clients and contribute to key decisions involving facilities management, logistics, supply chain, inventory control, purchasing, quality control and scheduling. NOTE: Students enrolling in this program are required to purchase their own laptop. This program was created by DC and UOIT for individuals who plan to take UOIT’s Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree program. The bridging courses required for admission to the degree program are embedded in the curriculum and if you achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 in each semester of your DC courses and no grade below C in your UOIT courses, you can apply directly to the third year of the degree program. The UOIT embedded courses are flexible and subject to change by UOIT. Academic planning assistance will be offered to you by a Durham College student advisor representative. As a student participating in this program, you will be registered at DC and at UOIT. UOIT offers classes in the evenings and the annual calendars including reading week are generally different. Students are expected to attend all classes that are scheduled. In addition the two institutions use different learning management systems. This program enables students to complete Supply Chain and Operations – Business – transfer to UOIT Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) diploma at DC and the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at the UOIT in four years for qualifying students, and at less cost than a typical Bachelor degree program. This program provides students with the option of proceeding in second year with the college-only curriculum to complete the Supply Chain and Operations – Business diploma, or proceeding to complete the university transfer, which will include five university credits. This unique pathway is available on a shared campus with exposure to college and university faculty, information and opportunities. Students can transfer the first-year of any other business program at DC after the first semester; leave after the first year with a Business Fundamentals certificate; or leave after the second year with a Supply Chain and Operations – Business diploma. Students who choose to return to complete the Supply Chain and Operations – Business Administration program would receive advanced standing
